My Life of Riley
Hi, I’m Riley Davis*** and I’m a Wedding Coordinator. Did that sound a little 12-step ish? I have a few things to get off my chest. My friends tease me all the time. They say I’m living the ‘Life of Riley’, after all what could be bad… I own my business and my days are spent at the most luxurious resorts sharing a couple’s happiest moments. I get paid to attend to their weddings. What could go wrong?
A wedding coordinator sees a lot of flowers as part of their job description. Floral arrangements on the tables, the walkway to the where the ceremony is being held, the bouquet, even boutonnieres for the groomsmen… its all about flowers.
The Rose, thanks to Shakespeare I guess, is the epitome of romance. It symbolizes all things romance and love. And, it is, in my experience, by far the most popular flower at weddings. There is only one tiny problem. I’m allergic to Roses. Not itchy hives or anything dramatic but my eyes get red and teary. My nose gets a little runny.
And, when I forget to take my allergy medications it can be a little embarrassing. The Mother’s of the Bride invariably think I’m choked up by the ceremony. I let them believe it was the most beautiful ceremony I’ve seen. Where is the harm in that… this is my ‘Life of Riley.’
