Color Me Mine

My Life of Riley
Hi, I’m Riley Davis*** and I’m a Wedding Coordinator.  Did that sound a little 12-step ish? I have a few things to get off my chest.  My friends tease me all the time.  They say I’m living the ‘Life of Riley’, after all what could be bad… I own my business and my days are spent at the most luxurious resorts sharing a couple’s happiest moments.  I get paid to attend to their weddings.  What could go wrong?

I’m a redhead but not one of those deep dark flaming reds, more of the washed out strawberry reds with skin that burns with the slightest hint of sun.  I will admit there are not a lot of colors I can wear well but I have a few wedding outfits which have become my look.  And, because weddings have such wide varieties of color schemes, all of my looks are neutral toned.  Frankly, I thought I did a good job of blending in.

I’ve been working with a bride for the past few months, her wedding is right around the corner and we have been going over the final details.  Her main color… shades of burgundy.  But it’s not like I’m wearing the tablecloth or bridesmaid dresses.  Suddenly she becomes quite serious… “Riley, you NEED to do something for me.”  I’m all ears, a bride needs something and I’m here to help. The last thing I expected was her request for me to dye my hair for the day, because I clashed with the linens.

I’m not normally speechless. I’m glad I didn’t have a mouth full of water because she would have worn the spit-take.

And, on the day of the wedding I will be a lovely chestnut brown… this is my ‘Life of Riley.’
