Mom-of-the-Bride-zilla

My Life of Riley
Hi, I’m Riley Davis*** and I’m a Wedding Coordinator.  Did that sound a little 12-step ish? I have a few things to get off my chest.  My friends tease me all the time.  They say I’m living the ‘Life of Riley’, after all what could be bad… I own my business and my days are spent at the most luxurious resorts sharing a couple’s happiest moments.  I get paid to attend to their weddings.  What could go wrong?

Seriously! Weddings and Funerals tend to bring out the… shall we say unique side of people.  I guess it makes sense, they are both events filled with heightened emotions.  So, I give people a bit of slack and I keep my mouth shut.

When it comes to the wedding dress, the relationship between the mom and the bride comes into focus.  When my bride decided to wear her mother’s dress (with some style alterations) so many tears were shed.  Photos were shared.  In fact, the dress was made a centerpiece to the wedding itself with old photos of the mother and father’s wedding printed on the guest program.  There was a certain amount of anticipation of the unveiling of THE dress.  How blessed.  How loved.  You get the picture.

I was rolling with it.

Hours before the ceremony, the bride was having her hair and make-up done and I stopped into the room where she would get dressed just to make sure the girls had everything they needed.  I expected the room to be empty as the bridesmaids were with the bride.  I did not expect to see the mother-of-the-bride standing there stuffed into the bridal gown, crying.  Awkward…. But there you have it… This is my “Life of Riley.”
